Hey twumbones. Ok, as you all probably know, Our SYF song is no longer Suite on Celtic. It's MNNV. Personally, I find it a more suitable song, because our section's sound is more fit for this kind of song, rather than irish(?) songs. So, yea.

The technique part, you all still have to watch the usuals:

-tongueing - du, lu, tu.
-intonation - pls practise with a tuner where possible.
-the other usuals. You all know la, hor?

But one more thing I wanna add is:

slide movement. I noticed when you all move your slides, it's not slick enough. Pls make sure you all grease up your slides properly before practice starts, or if it's not your slide that's the problem, pls memorise your positions properly. It is vitally important you all know where to land your slide to hit the right note so we are magically in tune =)

Please practise TROMBONE BLUES more often. VITALLY IMPORTANT.

I'll be updating the blog more often now to share techniques and stuff, so please check it frequently for announcements or tips. =]

hey bones. sorry been really busy lately, unable to update y'all.

Um, in case you STILL don't know,

is our SYF song for 2007. So if you've got the spare time, please practice this song alot more than the rest.

Also, Sec 1s. Your JBF (junior band fest) is coming up on the 23th August.

Please practise your repertoire often. It's a pretty major concert.

MAIN band bones...

I think we should have a section talk. Like serious. I am getting bugged. We are all like at war. They are leaving soon and i really want them to leave with wonderful memoirs of the band. And us. Yeah. Can? For everybody's sake. I fear the end is near...... Next week or something...we don't have anymore concerts except for the Junior band...SO..can.The sooner the better.

HEYYY. Sorry for not updating. Been really busy.

Anyway,

Sec 1s,

You have learnt a new song and it would be greatly appreciated if you all learn the notes and memorise the positions correctly and properly by next practice, as we will be learning a new song, Aura lee =) its a nice song.

The main bones,

Please come back for self practice often enough. Like zat said, our movement of the slide is very slow and slacky, Causing unnatural gliss. Please work on that during self prac, and also the following songs:

1) Where Eagles Soar.
2) With All Thy Might
3) Trombone blues

Please try and work on these songs WITH A METRONOME to avoid going out of pulse. Trombone blues is a last priority for now, but please find time to perfect the glisses =)

As i was sitting down preparing for my compo...an idea came to me on this stuffy boring saturday afternoon on the eve of chinese new year which you all probably having fun right now with all your aunties saying..."AIYA....I love reunion dinners..get to see everyone..AIYA...you so cute!!" and starts pinching your cheeks which i know you all hate. [this is so irrelevant].

HOW ABOUT...

we burn any song we have on trombones which the other section peeps don't have and compile it all in a CD compiling wallet keeping thinging. WHich can be used for generations and generations to come. Besides..the songs NEVER goes outdated.Then we can also compile songs from other bands and stuff...

Hey fellow bonists!!

Ok, as you all know, our band is, not say suffering, but, currently experiencing bonding problems. We had the whole confession thing, and we came clean with each other about any dislikings and uncertainties.

I would like to make it clear to you all, that no matter how much shaun and I pressure you to do better, or force you to improve, or simply drive you nuts, no matter HOW MUCH we seem like we hate you, we don't, ok?

WE LOVE YOU TO THE CORE!!!

yea, we do. And when we tell you stuff you don't really want to hear, its for your good and its to help you get better. Trust us, we've walked down that road of uncertainty before.

Also, if there is ANYTHING that you don't understand or cannot accept, tell us. We won't get mad at you, promise =]

Yay. This year this blog is no longer going to be stagnant. It's going to be fully utilised and you guys can come back for updates and reminders occasionally.

So, the secondary ones are making their decisions on CCAs and I hope we get many good juniors. yipee.
